| Anita Prentice: |
| From an early age, Anita displayed the artist’s demeanor, saturating her earlier and college years with visual and performing art experience. She attended Pima College in Tucson and Columbia College in Chicago. Ten years of world travel allowed her to explore the many dimensions of art and architecture that surround us all. Anita’s art, like her life, is an eclectic collection of mediums and subject matter. Her creations encompass exotic to traditional to preposterous, almost always with a humorous twist. Her current work incorporates frescoed mosaics, utilizing stained glass. These monumental pieces give the viewer the impression that Anita truly is creating the antiquities of tomorrow. Anita’s accomplishments include being chosen to mosaic the cover of Highwayman Alfred Hair’s grave. Other achievements are “Best in Show”, Backus Gallery, Four County Juried Show. She also serves on the Board of the St. Lucie county Cultural Affairs Council and is a former gallery owner and curator of Backus Studio. One of her current projects is “Art Is Everywhere”, an educational television program. She is currently involved in the fifth year of GAGA, a joint art effort with fellow artist, Ginny Piech Street. Her work and large scale installations can be found in collections nationally and internationally. |
