Karen Harvey was born ‘Karen Leigh Fuller’ in Philadelphia in 1965. The journey of her life led her around Pennsylvania and ultimately to the Lowcountry of South Carolina. She (a ‘come-he-ah’) and her husband, Bill (a ‘been-he-ah)’, reside along the banks of Factory Creek, where they are the grateful recipients of nightly glorious sunsets. Between them, Karen and Bill have five amazing (of course!) children and one (also amazing) English Springer Spaniel. Although Karen has been acting and singing since fourth grade, she feels that ‘finally at forty’ she has found her true voice in photography.
Karen’s favorite subjects include reflections of all sorts - primarily the marriage of water and the world above, a mingling of the temporal with the ephemeral. She hopes to capture and share just a parcel of the millions of artworks which are created around us daily. Reflections and geometry figure strongly in Karen’s favorite works. Philosophically, she believes that reflections allow us to glimpse a higher reality and challenge us in our belief that ‘the real world’ is only found in the empirical. Karen is thankful that with a camera in her hands she has been given the ability share her soul in ways those hands never quite could with pencil or paint.
